What is love?

Posted on Posted in Love, Value

Love is not a feeling, nor an emotion,
… but could be described as the expression of a characteristic!

Love is the expression of Who God is, for God is love.
Therefore, love is the expression of God’s character,
… how He deals with us,
… how He reaches out to us.

God’s love is about how He values His creation,
… and in particular His special creation, man.

Because God so valued His man – John 3:16
… He not only gave man His best,
… but He gave His only Son,
as the expression of His love for His man!

God also wants us to value His man – 1John 3:16.
God put His image, His character in us,
and once we grasp the fullness of that love character,
… by receiving His love for us through Jesus,
we also will start living what God is (in us),
… and become the expression of love to those around us.

This love, this image, this value that is in us,
… is not about self and self-seeking,
but is about living and expressing that love character that is in us,

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits,
      without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
      James 3:16-18

Love truly is the fruit of righteousness,
… it is about what we live, not what we speak,
… it is about what we give, not what we have.
It is what we are that shows others,
… the reality of a living, loving God who wants only the best for them.
We are the channels, those vessels that God uses!
