Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
What is this yoke Jesus spoke of?
What do we need to take on ourselves?
To understand that is easy,
simply look at the life of the One who told us to take His yoke!
What was Jesus’ yoke?
What did He come to earth to do?
Jesus lived His life for us, (John 3:16)
… and gave Himself on the cross for us,
so that we can be forgiven, so we can have life!
That act of love,
… doing for others what they cannot do for themselves,
… is the yoke Jesus took on Himself,
and as Jesus said, that yoke is easy,
… because it simply expresses on the outside,
… what is on the inside, the Father’s love!
In the same way just as Jesus did for us,
… what we could not do for ourselves,
so we, in Him, can do for others, (1John 3:16)
… what they cannot do for themselves!
All we need do is to live that life,
… that life we have in Him,
the same way as He did,
… by living for others, with Him!
What a wonderful yoke,
… the yoke of love,
a burden so light.
