Faith Hope Love

life

      And now abide faith, hope, love, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.
      1 Cor 13:13

Why is it that love is the greatest?
… why not faith or hope?
Because real love sets the standard!

Love is NOT about me, that’s desire, greed, obsession!
… but LOVE is about value and valuing!
Love is about a value you want to share with others,
… a value you see in others,
because you see a value in yourself!

Only when you recognise the value of self and of others,
… because you value God who is love,
that is when HOPE becomes real, become possible,
that hope of good for self and for others!
and that is when faith becomes real, becomes alive,
… because you are stepping out on something that is real, LOVE!

When love, the value of self and others becomes real to you,
… that is when you connect to Love Himself,
and Love will work through you touching the lives of others,
… because Love has touched your life!

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
      1 John 4:8
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God,
      and God in him.
      1 John 4:16

Blessed of God

life

Do you want God to bless what you are doing,
… or what you are plannng to do?

It is easy to take a scripture,
… and then ask God to bless what you are doing,
particularly a well known scripture such as,

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
      Mark 16:15

Of course God wants to bless what we do,
… and especially when we are reaching out to others.
But so often it seems that that is just not happening!
Why not?

Although God has said that He wants to bless us,
… He has also set some conditions for that to be so,

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey
the VOICE of the Lord your God, to observe
carefully all His commandments which I command you today …
And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you,
because you obey the VOICE of the Lord your God:
      Deut 28:1-2

God wants to be personally involved in where you go
… and in what you do!
Therefore, if you want God to bless what you are doing,
… or what you are planning to do,
then make sure you are doing what He wants you to do!

Jesus, in Mark 16:15 gave His disciples some clear instructions,
… as to what He wanted them to do,
and only as they went and did exactly what He had told them,
… could He go with them and bless what they did!

And they went out and preached everywhere,
the Lord working with them and confirming the word
      through the accompanying signs. Amen.
     Mark 16:20

New Year – 2017

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Creativity, Life, Potential, Value

What do you see when you look at the new year?

Do you see,
… a world full of problems and pressure,
… peoples in need, refugees, wars and tyranny,
… financial systems and social structures failing,
and mankind seemingly the sole cause of it all!

What does God see when He looks at the year 2017?
When He looks at this earth that He created,
God sees man, that special creation He put on this earth,
… that special creation that He enabled,
… that special creation in whom He put so much potential,
… that special creation that He blessed and empowered!
      That special creation – YOU
… to whom He gave this earth,
and through whom He wants to work to change this world!

Are you ready?
… to see the possibilities and potential God sees in you!

      Are you ready?
… to take up that challenge,
… to see and do what God sees in you?
Are you ready for a New Year?
… to live and do what God put in you?

God is … Happy New Year!

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
      Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

The Love Triangle

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Life, Love, Relationship

His love for us, expressed to us, alive in us!

God’s love for us,
… expressed in His action towards us,
by providing a way for us, into His love.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
      John 3:16

Jesus’ love for us,
… expressed in His action on our behalf,
by doing what we could not do,
… to deserve God’s love for us!

      By this we know love,
because He laid down His life for us.
      1 John 3:16

And our love for God,
… expressed in our actions towards others,

      A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
      John 13:34

The love triangle complete …
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one,
and that the world may know that You have sent Me,
and have loved them as You have loved Me.
      John 17:23

and perfected in us …
Love has been perfected among us in this:
      that we may have boldness in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so are we in this world.
      1 John 4:17

Bothering God?

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Challenge, Faith, Promises

life

Are you bothering God with your ‘prayers’?
Is it possible to ‘bother’ God with our prayers?

God is full of compassion and doesn’t get bothered,
however that does not mean that we can’t displease Him,
… by asking Him to do things He’s not about to do,
… by asking Him for things that we should be doing,
and by not inquiring of Him about His plans for our lives!

We are quick to say that God is God and Jesus is Lord,
yet when we pray we ask God to do things He has already done,
… instead of making Him Lord of whatever problem or need there is!

Let’s look at a very simple example – let’s go fishing,
Of course you should pray, but what should you pray?
Should you tell God that you have faith in Him, and in His promises,
… that according to His Word He said He will bless you,
… that He will bless the works of your hands (Dt. 28:8)
and in faith ask Him to fill your net with a multitude of fish! Amen!

But guess what, like the disciples in John 21,
… you will probably fish all night and catch nothing!
      Why?
Because you asked God to do something He never said He would do,
… and furthermore, you never made Him Lord of your project!

What will make God truly Lord in what you are asking or doing?
Quite simply ask Him to do what you can’t do yourself,
… and ask Him to tell you what you don’t know!

God is not about to fish for you,
but will do what you can’t do and tell you what you don’t know!
He will tell you where to throw your net, where the fish is,
Just like Jesus did in John 21:6 … ‘on the right side!’

Stop bothering God with what you should know and do yourself.
Ask Him what you don’t know,
… where you should go, what you should do,
so He can be truly LORD in your life!

Living the Light

Posted on 2 CommentsPosted in Covenant, Life, Responsibility

      Are you a living light,
… or living under a basket?

We are quick to say that,
we are living in the light as He is in the light!
But is that really what God’s Word says or expects,
… or what Jesus wants us to do?

Of course we should be in the light,
… but what are we or should we be doing in the light?

“You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket,
      but on a lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works

and glorify your Father in heaven.
      Matt 5:14-16

The Lord wants us to not just live in the light,
but He wants us to shine that light that is in us,
… so that others can see the way!
… so that others can see who Jesus is, in you!

Therefore the Lord said to us …

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the
blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
      John 1:7

What others see in you and in me,
… is the light that we live,
… is the light that we are!

Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father in heaven.

      Matt 5:16

Change – by your efforts

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Challenge, Potential

That change is necessary is beyond argument,
however, what makes change sure and permanent?

Of course we want things to be better in our lives,
… and generally we are the ones who need to change.
Yet, in most cases we rely on our own efforts and strength,
… the same efforts that actually brought us to where we are,
efforts that are unlikely to bring success!

Consider this …

If I am the source and thus the power behind the change,
… then I also have to maintain the change by my efforts!
Yet seeing the change is necessary because of what I got myself into,
… then me being the source and power to sustain it,
has no foundation and will most certainly not work!

Any change that is the result of our own effort,
… has to be maintained by our effort.
So clearly, on our own we won’t make it, we need help!
God’s help and God’s favour.
As Jesus explained …

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send
in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your
remembrance all things that I said to you.
      John 14:26

True change comes from the inside,
… and we have the Creator Himself abiding in us,
As we hear Him, and depend on Him,
change will not only be easy, but complete!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
      And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
      Prov 3:5-6

Do it because …

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Challenge, Faith, Potential

Don’t do or act on something,
… because you heard it said,
… because you heard it preached,
… because you have read it,
or because you have confessed it!

There is no actual authority or power in doing that,
… and there will also be no results because of that,
unless you try to make it happen yourself!

DO IT … because YOU know!

Because you know WHAT?
… Because you know there is real power behind it!
How will you know there is real power behind it?
… Because you KNOW God, the One who has the power!
And that He wants to use His power on your behalf!

Not because you know of Him,
      Not because you need Him!

      But because you KNOW
… that God said He would do it!
      and because you KNOW that
… God has in fact already done it!
and that He has done it for you!

God’s Word is living and powerful (Heb.4:12)
… and releases authority and power in your life,
when He speaks it to you. (Isa.55:11)

So, do what He tells you to do!
Confess your authority, according to His Word,
… not according to your need!
      Confess what He shows you,
… and you will have what He said!

If you abide in Me and My words abide in you,
you will ask whatever you desire and it will be done for you.
      John 15:7

It’s up to you …

life

      What YOU choose
      is what you get!

Why does a loving God not stop the suffering on earth?
Is it possible that God somehow does not care?
Certainly not, He does care and in fact He wants us to enjoy life
(John 10:10)

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you,
      that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing;
      therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
      Deut 30:19

Why then is there still so much suffering?

Considering that when God made man He did not make a robot,
… but He made him a special being with a free will,
… and God Himself ensured that man’s choice is truly free,
which also meant that God would never override man’s choice,

The adversary however was quick to test man’s freewill,
… and instead of listening to God, man chose to believe the devil’s lie,
which resulted in man getting into the mess he is in today.

God on the other hand, reaching out to man in love,
made a way to reverse man’s situation,
at the same time not going against His own will.
Thus, by Jesus’ sinless sacrifice God’s judgement was satisfied,
… God opened the way for man to choose life through Jesus!

God’s part therefore was done!
The way to God and His blessing, free from all suffering, was complete,
… without having denied or overridden man’s freewill!
However, to live in God’s blessings and protection, free from suffering,
… is not up to God and is not His decision but ours!

God cannot and will not go against our freewill,
… but He will always respond to our decisions,
and if our decision is to open the door to Him,
… then He has the right to get involved in our lives,
and to deal with the situations we may find ourselves in!

Getting to know God

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Covenant, Love, Relationship

life

      Getting to know GOD,
… that GOD, who seems so far away!

How do I truly get to know almighty God,
… how will I recognise Him and know who He really is,
… so that I can live a meaningful life,
and be at peace where I can put my trust in Him!

Sure I have repented and I think my life has changed,
… but somehow I still don’t feel that I really know God!

Well let’s look at what the Word says,
… who the Word is, and who God is.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
      and the Word was God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
      John 1:1,14

The Word clearly is God,
… Who became flesh and lived amongst us.
He is therefore the living expression of God in the flesh,
… Who came to express Who the Father is, to us!

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God,
      and God in him.
      1 John 4:16

And how did Jesus express who the Father is?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only son …
      John 3:16

Jesus is the living expression of the Father, of Grace Himself,
… doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves,
… and giving to us what we do not deserve!

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love,
just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
      John 15:9-10

How do I do that?

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.
And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
      1 John 3:16

Live love and you will know Love, because Love will be in you,
… and you will know the Father, for He is Love!
