That Tree

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Character, Commitment, Trust

                                                     … what about it?

In most peoples’ eyes, the tree of the knowledge of good & evil,
… was put there by God to test man and his obedience.
But in actual fact that tree was there for exactly the opposite reason,
to confirm man’s trust in God.

Consider this … man was created in God’s image,
… and in God’s image man obviously knows good,
so also evil, as that is simply the opposite of what good is!
However, what is missing and what man does not know,
… is how to live or apply good in and to life.
We need God’s guidance to know exactly what God planned,
and how He planned for us to live His goodness, His love.

God not only put us in charge of creation,
… but He also gave us a free will,
so that our decisions would be real and would be truly valid.
Therefore for us to live those lives God created us to live,
… we need His input, His guidance, His wisdom.

and the only way we can truly live that is by explicitly trusting Him!

So, that Tree was what God put in our lives as our link,
… our connection, and our acceptance of His place as Lord,
that place of trust in Him.
There, where in all things in life, good or bad,
… God is the guide, God is the decision maker,
otherwise God is not God in our lives,
because we don’t truly trust Him with our lives!

Accept that tree, and put your trust fully in God,
… and all that He planned, the fullness of His blessing will be yours!

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
      I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
      Ps 91:1-2

Covenant talks about trust, Faith talks about trust,
Victory talks about trust, Peace talks about trust,
Trust Love and as He is so will you be in this world!
      (1 John 4:17)

Why Tongues?

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Faith, Relationship, Trust

… because it’s His perfect will!

Speaking in tongues has always been a touchy subject,
… although the reason why God decided for it,
is so simple and so powerful!

So, why is speaking and particularly praying in tongues,
… a crucial part of our relationship with God?

Of course one can say that it puts God in control,
… that it is therefore liberating and powerful,
because we are praying His will when we don’t know what to do.
      (Rom.8:26-27)

However, that is the result of praying in tongues,
BUT why is praying in tongues important to God,
… what is it that makes it so powerful and so important!

Our minds, our senses and actions are mainly based on the physical,
… and our response to God is mainly based on His Word.
We therefore trust in what we see or in what God’s Word says!
But what does God want us to trust in?

God wants us to trust Him completely,
… not because of what we need,
… not because of what we see,
… not because of what we have found in His Word,
but because of what He wants that we don’t know!

Words are vital, words are creative
… and the spirit realm responds to words.

So for God’s perfect will to be done, we need to speak what He says,
and the only way that it is truly His words and will,
… is when He speaks through us without us being in control,
but as vessels in His hands, so His will can be done!
      (Rom.9:21)

That is in fact the reality of being in God’s rest,
… where God is exclusively in control,
… and where His perfect will is done!

And we know that God causes everything to work together
for the good of those who love God …
      Rom 8:28 (NLT)

A New Life

Posted on 3 CommentsPosted in Challenge, Commitment, Responsibility

                                                               … in Him!

Because of Jesus and what He did for us on the cross,
… the Bible confirms this amazing truth to us,

      Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
      old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.

      2 Cor 5:17

Yet in living that new life, it so often seems,
that actually all things have not become new!
Take for instance love or even a simple thing like patience.

Before we became a new creation in Christ,
… most of us were rather unlovely and often very impatient.
However, since I am a new creation,
… has the way I was before suddenly also changed?
If we are honest we have to say no, it has not!

So what happened to this new creation?
If I am a new creation, why has there been so little change?

How do we take hold of a promise, and make it real in our lives?
The same way as everything in life becomes real in us,
… as Paul wrote,

      work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do
      for His good pleasure.
      Phil 2:12-13

For those plans and promises of God to become real in my life,
… I have to live them, and not expect God to live them for me, in me!
God wants to work His good pleasure in me,
… but it is my decision and my responsibility to live His way.

God is serious about His promises,
and gave the Holy Spirit as our helper,

… but He is also as serious about not overriding our freewill.

In other words,
Live out your own salvation, which God is eager to help you live.
All you need do is admit you need help,
… and live what God prepared for you!

Willing & Obedient

… eat the good of the land!

There are many promises in the Bible
… that tell us that God wants to bless us abundantly,
such as for instance …

If you are willing and obedient,
      You shall eat the good of the land;
      Isa 1:19

However, so many people are obedient,
… doing all they can to obey God’s commandments,
yet they are NOT prospering,
… and are not eating the good of the land!
Why not?

      God said ‘willing and obedient’
Obedience on its own is doing what you are told to do,
… regardless of whether you want to or not!
Is that what God wants or expects?
      No!

God gave us a free will, and He wants us to freely choose,
… and to honour Him with our lives,
also saying to us …

that you may love the Lord your God,
that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him,
      Deut 30:20

If you are willing, freely desiring to do what God says,
… because you want to walk in His good plans for your life, then
God’s presence and His promises will manifest in your life.

A willing heart hears, and a willing heart receives!

No Barrier – No more!

                                               Love removed the barrier!

God is LOVE,
… and Love expresses Himself in what He does.
Therefore, when man messed up
… Love set out to put things right.
How?
By expressing who He is?

For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
      John 3:16

God sent Jesus, who is the word of God,
… to express who He is to us,
… and who He is in us!

We needed be saved, healed and restored,
And how did God do that?
… through Love,

He sent His word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destructions.

      Ps 107:20

How did God do that?
By removing the barrier that separated us from Love!
The result was …

Love has been perfected among us in this:
      that we may have boldness in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear …
We love Him because He first loved us.
      1 John 4:17-19

Step into love, into His presence,
Where Love is, and where you are the loved!

Living the Mystery

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Faith, Life, Promises

Christ in you the hope of Glory!

When Jesus sacrificed His life for us on the cross,
… the veil that separated man from God was removed,
and so also the mystery of God’s plan for everyone on earth,

To them God willed to make known what are the riches
of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles:
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
      Col 1:27

Christ in us the HOPE of glory!
Hope however is only the beginning and God therefore says to us …

      For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
      Rom 1:17

Telling us that for that mystery to become a reality in our lives,
we need to step out in faith, and live in that glory,

for in Him we live and move and have our being,
      Acts 17:28

How do we do that?
Follow instructions …

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
      By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit;
so you will be My disciples.
      John 15:7-8

Let that mystery, that Glory we have in Christ,
… become real in your life.

      Live in Jesus.
Let His words to you be your guide,

… and your life will become
a life that glorifies the Father!

Self-occupied

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Life, Responsibility, Value

                                           … what can I do?

More often than not we are totally occupied with self,
… our problems, our needs, our wants,
and what we can do to fix our lives

If through what we have done, we are in this mess,
… why do WE think that WE can fix what is wrong?

Jesus in the parable of the lost sheep,
told us what needs to happen so our lives can change…

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one
of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness,
and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
      Luke 15:4-5

We are like that lost sheep, in trouble, full of problems, needs and wants.
And like that sheep, we can’t help ourselves, we NEED help!

Once the shepherd found the ‘lost’ sheep,
… did the shepherd tell the sheep that it did wrong,
… and what to do to get out of what’s wrong?
NO!
The shepherd neither told the sheep that it was wrong,
… nor did he expect it to be able to fix what was wrong,
but himself did what was necessary to right what was wrong!
All the sheep needed to do was to consent to being helped!

You need some solutions in your life?
Let Him pick you up and show you His way out,
… His way of getting to where you want to be!

And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
      Phil 4:19

Don’t limit God, asking Him to bless what you are doing,
Let Him tell you what to do, and it will be blessed!

The Shield of Faith

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Faith, Potential, Trust

… for the just shall live by faith!

Why did God actually say to us …

above all, taking the shield of faith
with which you will be able to quench
      all the fiery darts
of the wicked one.
      Eph 6:16

Because God does not want us to miss
the most important part of our life with Him,

What you believe is … what you believe, no more,
… but what you DO with what you believe,
… is when faith becomes real.
Therefore God specifically said,

      Now the just shall live by faith;
      But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.
      Heb 10:38

As you hold up God’s Word, and step out in faith, in Him,
He is there as your shield against those fiery darts.
But, if you do not do that, God says,
I cannot be your strength, if you don’t TRUST me!

So take up the shield of faith,
… and step out in His strength on what you believe,
because if your trust is in Him,
… He will be there to do for you, what He said!

God responds to you

Posted on 3 CommentsPosted in Character, Commitment, Responsibility

                                                … according to your word!

We are quick to quote God’s Word,
… and to expect that God will do what He said.
And yes God will do what He said,
… because God holds Himself to His Word!

However, what we so often don’t realize,
is that God holds us at our word.
What we say and what we confess,
… is what God responds to.
In fact, God not only holds us to our words,
God judges us according to our words!

For by your words you will be justified,
and by your words you will be condemned.”
      Matt 12:37

Too often we are like the Israelites, who,
… when God wanted to be a strength to them,
saw themselves as being well able, saying …

“All that the Lord has spoken we will do.”
      Exodus 19:8

So God held them at their word, (as He does us as well).
and gave them the ten commandments to keep!

Jesus however came to do for us what we could NOT do,
… and told us what is needed to make it work.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you
      John 15:7

Let Jesus give you His words of life,
and the Father will do according to His words of life that you speak!

As He is…

… so are we in this world!

Have you ever wondered why God said …
“It is not good that man should be alone;”
      Gen 2:18

There may seem to be many reasons why the Bible says that,
… but if you consider that God made man in His image,
it must have everything to do with who God Himself is …

The Bible also tells us that …
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
      1 John 4:8

And, for love to be real, it must be expressed! (John 3:16)

God’s plan has always been that we, mankind, be just like Him,
and as He was about to give Himself for us, Jesus prayed…

And the glory which You gave Me I have given them,
that they may be one just as We are one:
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one,
and that the world may know that You have sent Me,
and have loved them as You have loved Me.
      John 17:22-23

Just as God has never been alone, and has always expressed love,
… God created us to be exactly the same, expressing love.
Therefore God said… it is not good that man should be alone,
… because man in His image was created to be just like Him
a lover, who needs to express what is in him, LOVE!

Love has been perfected among us in this:
      that we may have boldness in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so are we in this world.
      1 John 4:17
